The industry has seen a slow, but steady growth of case-ready meats
and poultry available over the last decade, as retailers have found
the segment to be something certain customers seem to gravitate
towards-especially millennials. Retailers can also make product decisions based on their varying needs and demands, and aren't locked into
anything. Plus, it allows a retailer to offer a non-genetically modiﬁed
beef program with limited shrink risk.
Minneapolis, Minnesota-based Cargill offers case-ready meat, pork,
turkey, veal and poultry, understanding that today's consumers are
more interested than ever before in varying tastes of their daily protein.
It's case-ready program was created by uncovering desired claims,
looking at usage applications, examining packaging preferences,
analyzing basket size, looking at shopper perceptions and projecting
upcoming trends.

Daniel Sullivan, the company's media relations director, North America.
Additionally, Cargill's chefs and food scientists collaborate to identify the latest ﬂavor trends and develop proﬁtable products for retail

For Tyson Foods, convenient packaging plays a big role in the success
of its case-ready program, as it lets retailers take advantage of specialty
cut meats that enhance product offerings and generate incremental
volume. The company notes consumers are assured freshness in its
case-ready items thanks to the clear, vacuum-sealed packages which
