Supplier’s Corner Get Involved riends and associates: It is time to update you regarding what is happening in our association. Several opportunities exist in which you can reap benefits from your efforts as active members. First, several new and interesting items present themselves. Our association is about to turn 75 years young, and our diamond anniversary will be a great celebration. The 75th annual SNAXPO convention and exposition will be held March 16-19 in Phoenix, AZ. If you serve or participate in our industry, it is a must-attend event. As mentioned in the last Supplier’s Corner, an active, Snack Food Association (SFA)-staffed booth will be located in The Baking and Snack Break lounge at the upcoming Pack Expo, Sept. 26-28 in Las Vegas, NV. The break area will allow SFA to engage many existing members who participate in Pack Expo and meet other suppliers, or potential suppliers, to the industry. Please help to make the inaugural effort a success. Our association is developing an online industry marketplace where suppliers can feature their companies’ key contacts, products, equipment and other services provided to the snack food industry. This is an added benefit for associate members in that it will provide new online exposure to potential buyers and snack food manufacturers. The board has approved an active search for additional SFA staff. First, it plans to hire a marketing representative to support membership growth and communication, and then, the associaiton intends to add a financial and office manager to support its goals and efforts. Both will be great additions. SFA’s fall lineup of events offers several opportunities to participate, including: •The Wilbur A. Gould Total Quality Management Course, Sept 12-16 at the Food Industries Center at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH •The 2011 Executive Leadership Forum, Sept 18-20 in Jackson Hole, WY •The 2011 Management Development Program, formerly Management Workshop, Oct 9-11 in Dearborn, MI. I wish once again to remind you the time, effort and resources you spend on our association work only to the level of your active participation. There are many ways to get involved, and now is the time to do so with these important fall programs around the corner and the program coming online soon.
