Supplier’s Corner Planning for Your Future S ALMOND FA had a successful year in 2012 as we worked hard to provide effective programs and services for business members and associate members alike. Throughout the year, we celebrated SFA’s 75th anniversary with special programming at SNAXPO in Phoenix, which included a commemorative video and featured articles in Snack World. SNAXPO 2012 was again very successful and provided blend of business, education and networking. SFA continues to develop programs where associate members — including many industry suppliers of processing equipment, packaging equipment, food ingredients and other services — can meet and engage snack food manufacturers to keep our industry growing. SFA finalized dates and locations for SNAXPO 2014 (Dallas) and 2015 (Orlando, FL) and is about to sign off on the location for SNAXPO 2016 — laying the groundwork for successful conferences and expositions through 2016. Our first-ever Snack School was held in September in Philadelphia in conjunction with Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) that provided attendees with an outstanding curriculum geared to both marketing and operations personnel. This new program included important education sessions for both snack food manufacturers as well as suppliers. We plan to co-sponsor the 2013 Snack School again with SJU, and our planning committee — led by Doug Meyer-Cuno of Carolina Ingredients and Neal Hunt from Golden Flake — will be working with SJU to develop the this year’s program. As I prepare to hand the AEC presidency to my successor, David Cantrell of Land O’ Lakes, I look back on what we have achieved and what has been accomplished by our association. I wish to thank all of you for affording me the opportunity to serve this past year. It has been an honor and a privilege.
