SUPPLIER INSIGHT CANTRELL SNAXPO 2015: Be 'All In' I t's hard to believe (where has the time gone?), but once again SNAXPO is upon us.... As president of the Associate Members group, I urge each supplier to consider not only attending this event but also making sure you fully participate by purchasing the full package. Over the years, I've been asked a few times by new supplier members how they can maximize their participation in the SFA. My response is always to fully participate in the annual SNAXPO meeting by buying a full participation package. From a supplier's aspect, SNAXPO is the most important meeting the SFA has. It's a chance for all the suppliers to get together with the leadership teams of the individual snack manufacturers and exhibit the products we make that deliver value. Yet the exhibit hall is only a small part of the overall event. This year, as in years past, we'll have some excellent speakers in the various sessions. In the general session, we'll have Pulitzer Prize winning Bob Woodward speak to us about his observations on the inner workings of government, politics and the role of leadership. In the educational sessions, we'll be receiving a food law and regulation update as well as an update on upcoming legislation and regulations. We'll also be having a review of supply chain best practices and tactics as well as a session around understanding consumer perceptions and communicating the benefits of food technology. This is in addition to the annual business member meeting, the associate members meeting (my personal favorite!), the Latin American educational session and the state of the industry presentation. Each session is an opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing our customer partners and is a time when we can network with key buying influences within the industry. Buying a full package for each person attending the show not only allows you to participate in all of the above, but it also demonstrates to your customers that you are fully committed to better understanding the needs of the snack industry and what challenges they will be facing in order to better support them in the upcoming year. With all the various challenges the snack industry is facing in the near term, we as suppliers cannot afford to stand by the sidelines ... we have to play our cards right and be "all in" with our snack industry customers!
