SNAXPO SNAXPO 2015: Info, Knowledge, Insight Bob Woodward, state of snack industry sessions highlight SFA's 78th annual convention and conference. BY BOB GATTY R enowned political investigative reporter Bob Woodward will headline SNAXPO 2015, scheduled for March 28-31 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Mr. Woodward, the legendary Pulitzer Prizewinning journalist, author and associate editor of The Washington Post, will provide a behind-thescenes look at the inner workings of government, politics and the role of leadership. Mr. Woodward will speak at SNAXPO's closing general session Thursday, March 31, at 9:30 a.m., just before the SNAXPO Exhibit Hall opens for the final two hours of the Snack Food Association (SFA)'s 78th annual convention and conference. "We are delighted that Bob Woodward will be with us at SNAXPO," said SFA President and CEO Tom Dempsey, "and are looking forward to a fascinating presentation. Mr. Woodward's many experiences as a journalist and author should provide a great deal of insight into political developments during his long career as well as today in Washington and the corridors of power." On Sunday, March 29, three concurrent educational sessions will be held on the expo floor. David B. Schmidt, president and CEO, International Food Information Council, will present "Understanding Consumer Perceptions & Communicating the Benefits of Food Technology." Mr. Schmidt will explore consumers' awareness, perceptions and behaviors with respect to plant and animal biotechnology, modern agriculture and sustainability. Martin Hahn, partner, Hogan Lovells US (SFA's general counsel), will present a food law and regulation update. Mr. Hahn will discuss what implementation of the various Food Safety Modernization Act regulations could mean for snack manufacturers and suppliers of raw ingredients Bob Woodward and commodities. During this session, attendees will also learn what their companies should know about the increased number of lawsuits alleging that food labels are misbranded and how to manage class action risk. The annual Latin American Educational Session will be presented entirely in Spanish, covering industry developments of particular interest to Latin American member companies and will feature "The Future of Snacks in Latin America," presented by Sean Kreidler, Latin America research manager, Euromonitor International. Mr. Kreidler will discuss how shifting consumer demands have influenced the global development of savory snacks in Latin America.
