SNAXPO SNAXPO Staying Ahead of the Game SNAXPO 2016 a success on all fronts. BY MEEGAN SMITH S NAXPO 2016 brought more than 1,400 attendees from 30 different countries to Houston, TX. There were 166 exhibiting companies on the show floor, and 53 of them attended for the first-time. A full equipment show, SNAXPO 2016 featured exhibitors consisting of the leading suppliers of packaging equipment, seasonings, ingredients, frying and baking equipment, distribution and supply chain solutions, and much more. "It's my first experience, and I'm very impressed," said Scott MacAdams, western sales manager for Spokane, WA-based Commercial Creamery Co., while at the show. "The event is really well-attended. A veteran member of the SNAC International welcomed me and helped me get acquainted to SNAXPO and the association." From a veteran perspective, it was also a success. "We've always viewed SNAXPO as one of our most important tradeshows based on the quality of the leads and the content/relevance of the presentations," said David Cantrell, senior sales director, DairiConcepts. "This year's show was no exception." Mr. Scarborough pointed out some key elements to watch during the 2016 presidential race. He provided some historical context for the current Republican campaign and said that - despite current campaign slogans - America is already the greatest country. Monday morning attendees heard the "State of Snacking" presented by Jared Koerten, Euromonitor senior analyst. Mr. Koerten said that millennials - and the younger "Internet Generation" - are increasingly important market demographics. These shoppers often lack the time - and confidence in their own cooking abilities - to prepare traditional meals. New breakfast items, creative product combinations and innovative packaging are also important components of the trend toward convenience foods.
