As consumers seek more destinations for their food
choices, these limited-service specialty retailers have
an opportunity to create even more brand recognition.
Just look at Kellogg's NYC, the cereal-themed café
in Manhattan. The Kellogg Company recently closed
the Times Square location of Kellogg's NYC - where
it charged around $7 for a bowl of cereal - in favor
of opening an even larger space overlooking Union
Square Park.
The location was designed with 2,000 sq ft of
café-style seating, cards and board games and an
"Instagram station," where guests can design, style

and photograph their custom cereal creation and even
have an opportunity to place it on the menu.
The Instagram station plays into the rising trend
of objectifying food on social media, according to a
report in Food Business News. "The picture is more
than a picture of the food; it's documenting where
they've been and what they've seen and what they've
eaten," said Liz Moskow, culinary director at SterlingRice Group, in an interview with Monica Watrous,
Food Business News senior editor, digital media.
Whether it's for a specific physical need, a part of
healthy living or just a unique experience, consumers
are ready to take their snacking preferences to new
heights, no resolution required.
