CONTRACTS AWARDED A Promising Beginning for 2015 AWARDS BY AREA KAUAI $3,293,050 HAWAII $5,055,060 MAUI $9,779,018 OAHU $45,203,855 T he new year got off to a stronger start than in 2014, with agency contracts in January worth $63,330,983. Although the total was a welcomed increase over the previous January's $45,883,048, it fell below the $87,448,825 awarded in January 2013. The Department of Accounting and General Services topped the list of agencies for January, awarding contracts totaling $21,425,235. The Department of Education was next with $12,063,965. The bulk of January's jobs were on Oahu, with $45,203,855 in contracts. Watts Constructors LLC landed the largest award of $12,319,000 for the Nanakuli Public Library. Road & Highways Builders LLC had the next biggest job of $8,585,585 for rehabilitation of streets in Kalihi, Kalihi Valley, Kamehameha Heights and Alewa Heights. The largest contract on the Neighbor Islands went to Certified Construction Inc. in the amount of $5,000,089 to re-roof the Kahului Airport terminal building.
