ContractsAwarded Hot Month for Maui Valley Isle Awards Top State Total UHERO, the University of Hawaii’s Research Organization, recently released a forecast that predicted modest construction industry growth for Oahu with not much filtering out to the neighbor islands. That may be something of a surprise to Maui Master Builders who, just in February, was awarded the state’s biggest package of awards, four State Department of Transportation highway jobs on the Valley Isle worth a total of $9,268,266. Encouraging though the news is for neighbor islands’ contractors, it is residential work they are all looking for and February’s awards are not enough to top last year’s two month YTD total. So far, the January – February awards total of $39,288,010 is 32 percent shy of last year’s $58,082,978.
