Daniel Inouye U.S. Transportation Head Visits Hawaii The Pacific Resource Partnership (PRP) hosted a reception for U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood on March 22 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. The event provided an opportunity for LaHood to meet local community and business leaders while also speaking briefly about transit and other important infrastructure issues facing Hawaii. “We are honored to be hosting U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood tonight,” said John White, PRP’s executive director. “(His) commitment to rail is key to the project’s success.” Honolulu has been promised $1.55 billion in federal funding for the project, but Sen. Daniel K. Inouye in August warned that the money isn’t a guarantee-inwaiting. The secretary’s support for Honolulu rail could be instrumental in getting the funding appropriated. JOINING FORCES...
