Powerful Partnerships There is no question that the bond between the construction industry and military has strengthened considerably over the past several years. If measured solely in terms of the amount of work military projects provide for the construction and related industries and the direct impact this has on our local economy, it's immediately apparent 32 | BUILDING INDUSTRY | MAY 2014 how important the military's presence is in Hawaii. There have been periods of time when military work primarily sustained the industry, helping general contractors, subcontractors and related industry sectors to survive. But as longtime industry member Denny Watts, now vice president of Warrior Contracting, a company dedicated to creating careers and job opportunities for veterans and disabled veterans, emphasizes, it's not just in the down times that the military is here to support and help sustain us. The military is here in good times and down times both, with as much work as possible and ready to lend a hand wherever needed.
