Aqua Engineers Starts Work on Schofield Pipes Kauai-based Aqua Engineers Inc. has announced that it will subcontract a $15 million portion of the first phase of a $60 million project to upgrade wastewater collection lines at Schofield Barracks to sitework specialist Goodfellow Bros., Inc. The Lyman Road Sewer Upgrade Project – encompassing about 30,000 lineal feet of fusable PVC (polyvinyl chloride) gravity sewer pipeline ranging from 18 to 48 inches in diameter – will convey wastewater from Schofield Barracks to the Wheeler Army Airfield water treatment facility once it is completed in July 2012. “The Army is in an accelerated growth pattern right now, so we have to upsize the pipelines on their collection system,” says Hugh Strom, senior vice president of Aqua Engineers. “We have to accommodate for when they grow the army and require more housing. There’s just so much going on up there, it’s incredible.” Phase II of the project will include the installation of 8,300 lineal feet of fusable PVC R-1 transmission and feed main from the Schofield Barracks Wastewater Treatment The headworks portion of the Schofield Barracks Wastewater Treatment Plant, pictured here, will be the starting point for construction of the Aqua Engineers new sewer line construction project. Plant to Humphreys Road, allowing for the future expansion of water mains throughout Wheeler Airfield and Schofield Barracks. Aqua Engineers says the second phase of the project also includes a 1 million gallon R-1 storage tank as well as a booster pumping system.
