NAVFAC Awards New Contracts Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Hawaii in June awarded four new contracts – ranging from more than $6 million to more than $25 million – to local contractors. Kapolei-based FOPCO, Inc. was awarded a fixed-price $6.4 million contract to renovate Ford Island’s Building 76, making it the new home for the Navy’s Center for Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance after its projected completion in August 2012. The office is currently housed at Tripler Army Medical Center. The renovation of the 1940 structure will include architectural, structural, mechanical, fire protection, anti-terrorism/force protection and The Camp H.M. An unexercised option could bring the contract’s value to $7.1 million. A fixed-price $17.89 million contract was awarded to the dck-Ttec LLC joint venture to renovate Ford Island’s Building 55, originally built in 1936, as well as design and construct a 25,000-square-foot operational storage facility for SEAL Delivery Team ONE (SDVT-1) on the Pearl City peninsula. After the renovations, Building 55 will house the new headquarters of Naval Special Warfare Group Three (NSWG-3). Work on both parts of the project is scheduled for completion by January 2013. Unexercised options could bring the total value of the contract to $20.14 million. AMEC-Nan Joint Venture won a fixed-price, $25.46 million contract to build a 29,826-square-foot fitness center at Camp H.M. Smith and perform repairs and improvements to an athletic field at Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH) in Kaneohe, including the conversion of natural turf to artificial turf. The project is slated for completion in March 2013. Finally, a $13 million contract for the new headquarters of MCBH’s Waterfront Operations Department was awarded to the Watts-Healy Tibbitts Joint Venture. The project, which involves demolishing four existing buildings and the construction of two new buildings, is scheduled for completion in January 2014.
