NewsMakers Wendy Kaneyama has joined Swinerton Builders as preconstruction manager. Along with the preconstruction team, she will oversee preconstruction efforts, acting as the main point of contact and ensuring best-in-class service for Swinerton’s clients. Kaneyama holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s in business administration from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She brings with her more than 15 years of construction experience in the hospitality, healthcare, federal and military markets. Kevin Schneider recently was hired as a Hawaii-based residential manager for RevoluSun, a provider of residential and commercial solar systems. He will be responsible for the oversight and management of the project cycle for RevoluSun’s residential photovoltaic installations by preparing and completing their design and the physical pre-inspection. Schneider is a photovoltaic installer certified by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) and was most recently a solar electrician for Rising Sun Solar. Jim Newberry was recently inducted as the new risk management and insurance practice specialty administrator for the American Society of Safety Engineers’ (ASSE) Practice Specialty Leadership Group, the first time a Hawaii resident has been elected for a national post with the organization. Newberry is an assistant vice president and risk control manager of Island Insurance and has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He is a member of the American Society of Professional Safety Engineers and was the first Hawaii recipient to receive the ASSE Risk Management/Insurance (RM/I Practice Specialty) Safety Professional of the Year Award.
