NEWS BEAT The new mobility course and garden at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific REHAB Unveils New Clinic, Mobility C Course Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific (REHAB) held a blessing ceremony recently for its newly relocated and renovated lobby entrance and a new physicians' clinic. Donors, board directors and staff gathered to mark the completion of the first phase of the ground-floor renovation. The 80-bed hospital opened in 1953. The general contractor for the renovation project was J. Kadowaki Inc., while the architect was Jeff Mori of Arthur Y. Mori and Associates. "As the only rehabilitation hospital in the Pacific region, we have an obligation to the community to improve the facility and provide the best care possible to our patients," said CEO Timothy Roe, M.D. "REHAB was listed in the top three percent in the nation for inpatient rehabilitation facilities by Uniform Data System in 2013. It took a lot of hard work to get there, and we plan to keep moving forward with the best facilities, innovation, technology and services." Two additions to the facility are a physicians' clinic and a mobility course and garden. The 1,800-square-foot physicians' clinic includes four exam rooms and a procedure room, all designed to accommodate patients with disabilities. The mobility course and garden is on the Diamond Head side of the building and simulates the obstacles and variety of terrain that wheelchair users might encounter daily. The hospital renovation, which began in 2011, is expected to be completed by the summer of 2015. The new physicians clinic at the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific | 67
