HLTA to Present Na Poe Paahana Awards The Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association will present its 25th annual Na Poe Paahana Awards on Jan. 8 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel's Hawaii ballroom. Na Poe Paahana, which translates to "the hard-working people," recognizes nominees who have been selected by their managers for outstanding professionalism and performance on the job as well as service in the community. More than 800 industry professionals attended last year's event, with more than 250 lodging employees representing 64 properties from around the state. according to the HLTA. "These are the people who make our industry work, from front office staff to management," says George Szigeti, HTLA president and CEO. "The Na Poe Paahana Awards gives us the opportunity to gather together once a year and honor the very best Hawaii's lodging has to offer. "These individuals have contributed greatly to our industry through exceptional service, professionalism and display of the aloha spirit. The award categories are: Bell/ Valet Person of the Year, Engineer/ Maintenance Person of the Year, Food & Beverage Person of the Year, Front Office Person of the Year, Housekeeper of the Year, Security Officer of the Year, Manager of the Year and Outstanding Lodging Employee of the Year. The emcees will be KHON2's Diane Ako and Ron Mizutani.
