The Allstate Oahu Championships
The Allstate Oahu Championships was
a little nerve racking in the beginning as the
paddlers didn't know what to expect with the 10
foot Hawaiian surf cracking on the reefs. As it
turned out, the race was excellent without any
trouble from the surf. It was the last qualifying
race for the Maui Jim Waterman Series as well
as the Poai Puni Series.
In the Allstate championship,Travis Grant
secured his 2nd consecutive Maui Jim Waterman
Series title with his victory in the OC-1 and
Bobby Pratt's 2nd place finish propelled him into
1st place in the Poai Puni Series for the OC-1
and 2nd place in the Maui Jim Waterman Series.
Monica Esquivel won the women's division,
her 4th victory out of the five races she entered,
solidifying her Poai Puni championship. Amy
Woodward's second place clinched her first
Maui Jim Waterman title.
