Hawaiian Once Again! Photos Peter Caldwell Maui's Hawaiian Canoe Club parlayed their early lead and highest number of qualifying crews into a second consecutive HCRA State Championship at Ke'ehi Lagoon besting OHCRA contenders Kailua and Hui Nalu. Using their patented formula of building a dominant early lead on the strength of their younger crews, Hawaiian racked up 389 points to out-paddle Kailua with 341 points and Hui Nalu with 309 points. Hawaiian now has won 11 out of the past 14 HCRA titles, and the success of their approach has snowballed into a dominance that continues. When 4 Pacific Paddler OCTOBER 2014
