What is a Newcomer-Ready Organization?
Newcomer-Ready organizations thoughtfully commit

organizations, saving investments in hiring, onboarding and
training. Consider the following costs and business impacts
associated with hiring:
 Recruiting and onboarding skilled labour involves
dedicated staff and resources, including up to 30
working staff hours as a minimum.
 Hiring is costly, estimated to range from $6,000 to
$10,000 per employee, and being unable to retain a
worker will double hiring expenses.
 It takes from eight to 26 weeks before every new
employee achieves full productivity. Statistics provided
by Psychometrics Canada indicate that the direct
cost of replacing an employee is approximately 20 per
cent of their annual salary, meaning a $60,000 yearly
employee could cost about $12,000 to be replaced.
 Loss of skill and diverse newcomer talent also has a
longer-term impact. A September 2021 Glassdoor
Survey highlighted that 76 per cent of employees and
jobseekers said a diverse workforce was important
when evaluating companies and job offers. Thirtyseven
per cent of employees and jobseekers said
they would not apply to a company that had negative
satisfaction ratings among people of colour. Focusing
on diversity of immigrants and newcomers creates a
