LONDON CARES IS an organization
founded to respond to individuals
experiencing chronic and persistent
homelessness in London. Its work is
grounded in the Housing First principles
of: housing is a human right; services
are person centered; a harm reduction
approach is deeply embedded in everything
the organization does; and London
Cares believe that people should move
quickly into housing and then wrap
intensive case management support
around them to move towards stability.
London Cares is a diverse team of
over 70 problem solvers and strategic
thinkers, fueled by a passion for
progress and a belief that housing is
a human right. Its outreach services
operate in the City of London with two
teams working around the clock and one
team working during business hours to
meet people where they are at. Many
locations London Cares attends are
isolated (urban camps, wooded areas,
along the river) and require teams to
hike in to engage with people who are
well hidden.
Housing stability services from
London Cares help individuals secure
and maintain stable, permanent
housing through a trauma-informed
approach, intensive case management
and a mantra of " whatever it takes. " Its
highly supportive housing solutions
provide shelter and support to people
experiencing chronic homelessness with
complex health needs.
MEALS ON WHEELS London provides
food and transportation services to
adults 18-plus with a disability and to all
adults over the age of 55. All services are
available at subsidized rates to ensure
that those facing economic barriers
can utilize services without worrying
about cost. Meals on Wheels also offers
crisis and compassionate programming
where food resources can be accessed

emergency at no cost.
An organization in which volunteers
sit at the heart of its work, over 150
volunteers currently work with the Meals
on Wheels London team.
Meals on Wheels London has 16
employees comprised of nine full-time
staff and seven part-time staff. The
organization has been serving London
since 1969 when it started with just
six clients. Today, the organization
has grown to serve over 5,388 clients
annually. In addition to meal delivery,
Meals on Wheels London also provides
transportation services for wellness
related appointments within the city.
With a mission to nourish community
wellness, one person at a time, and a
belief in a community in which every person
should have a pathway to wellness
and independence, Meals on Wheels
London embraces change head on and
continually modernizes its historical
model to meet evolving community
needs.
