With great pleasure, I welcome you to this year's 'Mistakes in...'

UEG Week 2022 is adopting a hybrid format with an in-person and
online presence for the first time ever. The last couple of years has
taught us to navigate uncertainty better while still providing the support
and knowledge our community deserves. And knowledge can't
be transferred if we don't learn from past and present mistakes such
as the ones relayed by our experts in the following pages. As always,
we are deeply grateful for our authors and contributors and their
support of our mission towards the betterment of research,
diagnosis, and treatment of digestive diseases.
Over sixty Mistakes in... articles are already online, and the
UEG collection of professional advice and good practice notes from
experts is continually expanding. For those new to this format and
would like to know more, I encourage you to look at the collections
from 2016-2021, as they are all available online [ueg.eu/education/
education-resources/mistakes-in]. UEG takes a central role in
delivering and disseminating cutting-edge, unbiased continuing
medical education and supporting professional development.
Besides the current educational content in webinars, online courses,
articles, image hub, UEG Week sessions, position papers and many
more, you will soon discover novel formats that cater to this day and
age (e.g., blended learning, microlearning).
It has been a privilege and honour to serve initially as Director
of e-learning from 2013 and subsequently as UEG Education
Committee Chair from 2018 to this day. During that time, I have
noticed tremendous growth and dedication to providing numerous
learning opportunities to its community and delegates. It is,
therefore, with some degree of sadness and excitement for the
future of UEG Education that this will be my last meeting as
UEG Education Chair. The role has brought me into contact with
many great colleagues and given me friends for life.
And friendship and collaboration are ultimately what the UEG
community represents. I am delighted to meet you again in person,
and until then, stay safe, enjoy the booklet and keep learning!
