At UEG Week Virtual 2021 there were of course also fantastic
opportunities for online exchange and career tips for young GIs.
In the session " How to start a research project from scratch "
they could learn about the process from research question to
the implementation of a project (even with a limited budget). In
" Feast your eyes: MDT (multidisciplinary team) image trivia "
they got tips on how to interpret findings from radiology and
pathology and increase the quality of their clinical work. And
in " From ingredients to delicious dish: How basic science can
contribute to clinical trials "
the interaction between basic
and clinical research was discussed.
Especially popular were the " Grow with UEG - From trainee to
consultant sessions " at the Postgraduate Teaching Virtual. In
four sessions, experts gave young participants tips on how to
cope with being on call; when it is time to change employers;
how to get the job they want and deserve; and how to improve
their leadership skills. All these exciting presentations are of
course available in the UEG Library.

As in previous years, there were also regular publications from
the perspective of young experts. These are freely accessible in
UEG Journal under the category Young GI Angle. A highlight was
certainly Henriette Heinrich's and Gianluca Ianiro's piece " Young
GI angle: Living through a crisis: How to manage downturns in

With the opening of the myUEG Community
towards the
end of the year, all digestive healthcare specialists could now
officially become part of UEG and search, find and connect with
peers based on their research interests through My Connect.
This had been eagerly awaited and was particularly appreciated
by young GIs.
