All eyes are on Marco Island's
rebranding of the JW Marriott Marco
Island Beach Resort (formerly the Marco
Island Marriott Beach Resort), which is the
largest conference resort in the destination,
with a $320 million renovation touching all
726 rooms, as well as 100,000 sf of meeting
space and a reimagined lobby. "It's like a
brand-new hotel," DeBenedetto says. The
310-room Hilton Marco Island Beach
Resort just finished an extensive renovation
that includes new meeting space, all new
food and beverage outlets, outdoor venue
space and a new lobby.
The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club
also just completed a $9 million reinvention of

its golf course with input from the iconic Jack
Nicklaus, who has a historical tie to the resort.
FLORIDA KEYS
The Florida Keys offer a tropical island
experience without leaving the country. "It
feels like Turks and Caicos but you don't have
to go offshore," says Jack Meier, group sales
manager for the Monroe County Tourist
Development Council.
"You can use the Southern Florida
airports you are familiar with and in as a little
as an hour transfer be in Key Largo, or in
Islamorada in an hour and a half. We have had
some groups combine Miami and the Keys;
programs that are a little longer can spend
two to three nights in South Beach then two
to three nights here."
In Key Largo, the 144-room luxury Playa
Largo Resort & Spa, a member of the
Autograph Collection, is the first new-build
resort in the Upper Keys in 21 years. It has
more than 40,000 sf of meeting space. Ocean
Reef Club, at Key Largo's northernmost tip,
has 30,000 sf of indoor meeting space and the
new Carysfort Hall, with a 5,688-sf ballroom
and five additional meeting rooms for up to
500 attendees. And in 2018, Marathon will
be home to the new $100 million Florida
Keys Resort, with 98 rooms, 18 villas and a
14,000-sf entertainment complex that features
a 5,000-sf convention space.
