ORLANDO
Florida's meeting mecca, Orlando, has
a huge percentage of repeat business,
with attendees as well as planners and
exhibitors. Fred Shea, senior VP of sales
and services at VisitOrlando, says the city
can be a completely different experience
each time a group visits. "The way Orlando
is laid out, groups can go to one side
and never see the other. It's not a city like
Chicago, where you might use different
hotels each time, but they're all located in
the same area downtown."
There's always something new, like
in the Convention District, a two-mile
stretch along International Drive that most
recently saw the opening of the CocaCola Orlando Eye and Mango's Tropical
Cafe. This gives exhibitors fresh, exciting
venues for hosting customers each time
they return for a convention, Shea adds.

The new Loews Meeting Complex, offering
groups 247,000 sf of meeting space, includes
the new Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and Loews
Royal Pacific Resort.
Opening fall 2017 is Topgolf Orlando,
a 65,000-sf golf entertainment complex
with 102 climate-controlled hitting bays
big enough to host up to six players at
one time. Also worth checking out are the
downtown area and Winter Park, which is
often used for small groups and spouse
programs.
The new Loews Sapphire Falls
Resort has added 1,000 rooms and
114,000 sf of meeting space to the Loews
complex-together with Loews Royal
Pacific Resort-creating the Loews
Meeting Complex, with a total of 2,000
rooms and more than 247,000 sf of meeting
space. The transformation of the Buena
Vista Palace Resort and Spa into the Hilton
Orlando Buena Vista Palace will include a
large-scale renovation and repositioning of
this landmark hotel. Another Orlando icon,
the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin
Resort, is in the midst of a $140 million
multi-year redesign project to transform all
2,267 guest rooms from top to bottom.
