sea shores Windstar Cruises From special interest itineraries to exclusive charters, Windstar is expert at designing bucket list experiences at sea or we can create special-interest itineraries such as golf- or musicthemed cruises." Groups can also join existing themed cruises, such as the Culinary and Wine Delights of Spain and France. Its already established shore excursions are at the same level of quality as those offered by the local DMCs. For example, the group could visit Marennes, where the oysters of Marennes-Oleron are grown; meet with an oyster farmer to explain what he does; then finish with a tasting of 6 oysters accompanied by bread, butter and a glass of white wine. SPECIAL FOR 2015 Windstar Cruises onboard expereince A favorite with the incentive set and known for its casual elegance, Windstar Cruises offers planners the chance to charter one of its majestic sailing vessels and create the experience of a lifetime. Take the Grand Prix of Monaco sailing, which includes a stop in Monaco for a special Grand Prix¬-themed cocktail reception and dinner, K-section seats for Saturday's qualifying race and for race day on Sunday, and a private cocktail reception and dinner at Hotel de Paris' Empire Room. The cruise is hosted by a Formula One racing expert, who offers behind-the-scenes insight. As if that wasn't enough, one company took the experience even further, says Joe Duckett, Windstar's VP of marketing and sales. "On the final night of the Grand Prix, we helped to arrange the hire of antique cars, which pulled up in front of the Casino and were driven around the iconic race course." Imagine it and they can make it happen, says Duckett. For groups that love golf, he has chartered a cruise for the British Open at St. Andrews. "We arranged incredible golf experiences in port- namely the bucket list courses of Ireland and Scotland-as well as hosted golf lectures on board. "Because we're a small company with fewer than 300 passengers aboard our yachts, we're quite nimble in what we can offer groups," he adds. "We can do a whole week docked shoreside, serving as a floating hotel in the heart of a city's action, Just launched this month are two all-suite power yachts, (former Seabourn ships that have been renovated): The Star Breeze and the Star Legend. Refurbishments include a new lounge entertainment area, sunbathing area, screening room and expanded Veranda restaurant with a beautiful garden wall. Both ships include ample meeting space to accommodate all 212 guests. All-inclusive pricing on Windstar includes coffee, tea, water, snacks and meals. There are no hidden fees. Groups can expect a special cocktail party as well. 2016 will see 11 new voyages and 30 new ports, including Costa Rica and Iceland. The itineraries promise the unexpected- the Windstar trademark- such as the "Best of the ABC Islands" cruise, which will include a visit to donkey sanctuary on Bonaire, underground rivers and caves in Barbados, a chocolate factory on Grenada and an artist colony on Curaçao. Despite so much to do, a favorite passenger activity is actually right on board. "The open bridge is always a big draw," says Duckett. "Guests can simply wander into the bridge to chat with the crew, meet the captain and see what sailing a yacht is like. It's fascinating and it's free!"-Barbara Scofidio "Because we're a small company with fewer than 300 passengers aboard our yachts, we're quite nimble in what we do. We can do a whole week docked shoreside, as a floating hotel in the heart of a city." 20 | prevue magazine 20-21_SeaShores.indd 20 4/22/15 12:18 PM
