EDEN ROC [ON LOCATION] LAUREL HERMAN Miami Beach Bring a little Art Deco glam into your programs at this hip, historic & happening beachfront group resort F or over 50 years, the legendary Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach has attracted stars like Elizabeth Taylor and Katherine Hepburn with its beachfront location and Art Deco style. It was also the venue of choice for musical greats from Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole to Gypsy Kings and Madonna. Last year, it hosted the annual Billboard Latin Music Conference, so planners can be assured that Eden Roc has the experience to host your Miami programs. While there are 631 rooms/suites and over 70,000 sf of meeting space, it struck us during a recent visit that the hotel still maintains a boutique feel, with a personable staff who consistently anticipated our group’s needs. “Our goal is to always deliver value and exceed the expectations of our guests,” says David Siguaw, director of sales/marketing. “Also, the respect and integrity that our associates have for each other translates to our customers.” For meetings, there are 28 super modern rooms ranging from 400-10,000 sf. That’s supported by expansive outdoor event space, including a new spa terrace and 5,000-sf rooftop deck with VIP cabanas and vast views of the intracoastal waterway and Atlantic Ocean. Planners are also provided with a Meeting Planner Butler for any required support services. THE EDEN ROC EXPERIENCE Designed in the 1950s by Morris Lapidus, America’s most respected Art Deco architect, the Eden Roc has gone to great lengths to preserve one of Miami Beach’s most iconic buildings. The overall decor cherishes the historic elements like the vanilla marble that surrounds the brass elevator doors. That all comes into crisp focus inside the voluminous lobby anchored by the circular bar below original chandeliers, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and sheers. It’s a great post-meeting spot filled with natural sunlight to unwind and continue networking among friends and colleagues. At night, the lounge area fills up with well-dressed locals who come for the hip vibe, but not too hip, if you know what we mean. Definitely schedule time to experience the first ever ELLE Spa, which just opened in 2011. With floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the gardens and ocean, the 22,000-sf space feels like you’ve just stepped into the Mediterranean. Tall ceilings and white-washed walls are accentuated with natural stone, while flowing water and natural wood treatments create a stressbusting environment from the moment you enter. Providing quality and creative food experiences is another plus at Eden Roc. Hell’s Kitchen celebrity Chef Paula DaSilva heads up 1500, which puts a priority on farm-to-table cuisine. Groups will enjoy the seasonal and locally sourced ingredients, such as fresh South Florida strawberries, Florida grass-fed beef and Atlantic snapper. Overall, the Eden Roc Renaissance is a great value, especially when you book shoulder season and consider the gorgeous beach and group options in glittery South Beach. Siguaw sums up, “When you look at our competitive rates, phenomenal beach location and caring customer service, combined with the social environment of the Renaissance, groups will see that this is a winning combination.” edenrocmiami.com, miamiandbeaches.com 36 | prevue magazine http://www.edenrocmiami.com http://www.miamiandbeaches.com
