"We are well matched for groups that have strict financial parameters and need to stay in the 4-star category," says Anita Diedrigkeit, PR executive for andel's. Of the 557 rooms and suites, the hotel also offers two executive floors with access to a private lounge and terraces that can be used for private events. GETTING TO BERLIN Business class to Berlin on airberlin is the perfect choice from the US. From October 2016 till May 2017, the airline offers up to 55 weekly nonstop flights to both Berlin and Dusseldorf. Flying via Dusseldorf means a smooth one-stop connection at the convenient airport of Dusseldorf to the capital of Germany. By May 2017, airberlin increases its air service by up to 50 per cent and adds Orlando to its existing gateways Boston, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Fort Myers. What makes this airline so special is its German efficiency, hospitality and business class perks-from priority check-in to premium lounges with WiFi and F&B before attendees step on the plane. Once onboard, the new business class offers 19 pods with flat beds, 15-Inch HD screens with 200 channels, LED technology and Internet connection on flights across the Atlantic. (By the end of January 2017, all longhaul aircrafts will have WiFi). Food is curated by Sansibar, a gourmet German restaurant, and served in four courses. Groups of up to 800 can take advantage of three stories of private dining spaces for receptions, dinners and business meetings. We loved the understated dining room with the elegance of bygone years along with the personable and attentive service. While most of the spaces are indoors, =there is a courtyard for dining and receptions, which flows naturally into the main indoor dining room. The close proximity to Berlin's hub makes The Grand an ideal place to hold corporate meetings or even teambuilding events. We sampled the classic Frenchinspired cuisine with starters such a whole artichokes, foie gras, scallops and oysters all fresh and beautifully presented. Main entree selections from their grill menu were exquisitely prepared, which included beef and organic lamb. Desserts were over the top as well-amazing Guanaya Chocolate, elderflower ice cream with basil. Need we say more. The-grand-berlin.com SKY KITCHEN AT ANDELS BERLIN 2 "Food brings people together," says acclaimed chef Alexander Koppe of the Michelin-rated Sky Kitchen. Focused on providing a culinary experience with a hip vibe setting, Koppe uses the best products for his food preparation, resulting in creative interpretations of German favorites. Located on the top floors of Andel's Berlin by Vienna House hotel, the floor-to-ceiling windows give the restaurant a light open feel and awesome city views, including the iconic East Berlin TV Tower. ACHT & DREISSIG 3 Located on Oranienburger Boulevard in a vibrant tourist area of east Berlin, Acht & Dreissig is a boutique restaurant owned by a German native of Vietnamese decent. The menu has a "healthy Asian influence" and while offerings are limited, they are focused on quality and presentation. We had amazing goat cheese with chutney, seasonal salad and some raw salmon on rice, and our personal favorite, tuna tartare. The restaurant's contemporary intimate setting and hospitality make Acht & Dreissig a good choice for private and semi-private functions for groups of 32 to 100. Restaurant38berlin.de SARAH WIENER 4 Adjacent to the Hamburger Banhof Museum, this famous German chef aims to showcase the true cultural mosaic that is Berlin's cuisine. Using only the freshest ingredients and locally sourced products chef and owner Sarah Wiener's "regional comfort food" focuses on local pasture-raised meat, sustainably fished seafood and the freshest of fruits and vegetables. The restaurant can be booked for up to 120 attendees or with the use of the museums inner courtyard, terrace and foyer, Wiener can provide catering for up to 1200.
