GRAND PRIZE Terrific towhees (green-tailed towhees) Big Horn County James Yule | Worland, Wyoming Canon 5D Mark IV: 1/100 sec, f/5.6, ISO 640 I took this photo in the Shell Falls area of the Bighorn Mountains on June 10, 2020. I set up in an area where hummingbirds were displaying. As the light went away, I heard several birds squawking and making a commotion. They flew directly over my head and landed in front of my lens. I recognized the species right away as green-tailed towhees. I captured the image as the male landed across from the female and fanned his feathers as another male dive-bombed. Seconds after I captured the image, the male flew off in pursuit of the other male. Wyoming Wildlife | 5
