While walking around an RV park in Moran on an
especially cold morning after fresh snowfall, the
photographer spotted movement near the willows. She
cut the walk short and returned with her camera. It paid
off when she was greeted by this moose emerging from
the willows. Although the moose seemed a little startled
to see someone in the campground in the middle of
winter, it continued to browse. Settings used for this

Wheatland Wildlife Biologist Martin Hicks glasses a
distant ridge on the Laramie Peak Wildlife Habitat
Management Area to collect data for a bighorn sheep
survey. The wildlife habitat area is 15 miles south
of Laramie Peak. The land was purchased for the
management of all wildlife species with emphasis
on bighorn sheep, elk, pronghorn and fisheries. The
WHMA is closed during the winter months to avoid
disturbance to wintering wildlife and reopens on May 1.
