From the Publisher
The Summer 2019 issue of the TAB Journal contains a look at both positive and
negative medical room pressurization, the difference between expectations for
equipment and the reality of their performance in the field, a missing air mystery, and
how to set up a VAV air handling system.
Starting off, Jim Mahoney, TBE from the Mechanical Test & Balance Corporation goes
over a case study where they pressurized a surgery suite, and goes over best practices
for the process in similar scenarios.
Next, Sean Green, TBE, CxA from Environmental Test and Balance, Co., also
writes about pressurizing hospital facilities, but expands on the different ways it is
done and why.
Then, Casey McElwee, TBE from Professional Systems Analysis, Inc. presents a case
study about the differences between factory expectations for equipment and how the
reality is often different.
In our cover story, Jason Parker, TBE from Systems Analysis, Inc. explores a case
study where they had to spend weeks on a project in order to resolve a missing 4,000
cubic feet per minute of air from air-handlers on a roof.
Lastly, Vern Gray, TBE, CxA from the Test and Balance Corporation gives a refresher
on the correct way to set up and balance VAV air handling systems.
Thank you to all our authors for their contributions to this issue of the TAB Journal. If
