new home sales
Sales holding steady
T
he US Census reported that sales of new homes
in the first quarter of 2014 dropped less than 2%
over the first quarter of 2013. Sales exceeded
100,000 in the quarter, for only the fourth time in
many years.
The cost of the home also factors into the purchaser's
decision to hire a professional mover, with higher-cost
homes being more likely to see a moving van parked
in front. Unfortunately, the percentage of sales in the
$500,000 - $750,000 category fell from 8% to only 5% of
all new home sales. The category with the largest jump was
$200,000 to $250,000. Sales of new homes under $150,000,
where purchasers may be unable to afford a professional
mover, account for only 8% of new home sales.
