Help for Sharing AMSA's Message With Congress AMSA is rolling out a new grassroots software tool accessible through the Advocacy section of ProMover.org to help you contact members of Congress about the important issues affecting the moving and storage industry. When important legislation is moving and demands our industry's voice be heard, we will notify you through a Government Affairs alert. You will be able to send a pre-drafted letter, email or fax to your elected officials to tell them how these issues affect you as a business owner and the economy in their district. (Read all about it in Dan Veoni's "On the Hill" report on Page 54.) When you first access the grassroots site, you will be prompted to create an account. Use the same email address you use to log in to the members-only section of ProMover.org; you will be able to set your own password. We are making more content accessible exclusively to our members, as we don't want anyone opposed to our positions on the issues to easily see our legislative strategy. (We also don't want rogue companies having access to the valuable benefits available only to AMSA members.) Each individual has a separate account, so you can add more than one person to your company record. We encourage you to do this so more of your staffers can see the many benefits AMSA has to offer. SEPTEMBER | OCTOBER 2016 AMSA Joins the Fight to Stop the Spread of Gypsy Moths Direction 20 AMSA and the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) have teamed up to educate movers and consumers about how to comply with federal regulations and stop the spread of gypsy moths across the country. The gypsy moth is a serious pest, deforesting tens of thousands of acres each year. Gypsy moths are commonly introduced to new areas through human activity; egg masses often attach to outdoor household articles, such as barbecue grills, lawn furniture and children's toys. The consumer education program launched this summer highlighted the U.S. Department of Agriculture's gypsy moth regulations for moving interstate household goods, with special landing pages on ProMover.org and Moving.org. In addition, AMSA featured tips and resources for consumers through an online campaign and on social media. Learn more about complying with federal gypsy moth requirements in our free webinar at ProMover.org. n http://www.ProMover.org http://www.ProMover.org http://www.ProMover.org http://www.Moving.org http://www.ProMover.org
