Arpin Group Employee Raises $5K for Veterans Charity,
Honored as Top 10 Individual Fundraiser

NOVEMBER | DECEMBER 2017

Mark Dearborn, vice president of
corporate accounts for Arpin Group,
raised $5,000 for the Boston-based
veterans charity fundraiser Run to
Home Base, which took place on
July 15. He has been participating in
this event since 2014, with this year
bringing his personal cumulative
fundraising efforts to $13,000. This
earned him the honor of being a top
10 individual fundraiser as well as an
all-star fundraiser.
As part of Run to Home Base this
year, Dearborn ran the 9-kilometer
course in a personal-best time of 43
minutes. "I began running many
years ago because I wanted to become
healthier and more active," Dearborn
said. "When I learned of this event that
incorporated my love of running with
a cause I felt so strongly about, I knew
I had to participate. We have many
worthy causes out there, but this to me
is one that really needs our support.
The first year I took part in this event,
I was hooked and vowed that I would
participate in Run to Home Base as
long as I was physically able. It is a
top-notch event, and you see firsthand
where the funds you raise are going."

Hospital, Run to Home Base focuses
on healing the invisible wounds of
veterans, service members and their
families through a combination of
clinical care, wellness, education and
research. Most notably, Home Base is
a National Center of Excellence that
operates the nation's first and largest
private-sector clinic dedicated to
treating post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, anxiety, depression,
co-occurring substance use disorder,
military sexual trauma, family
relationship challenges and other issues
associated with military service.
"Each year, the pre-race ceremony
brings most to tears, featuring someone who has been saved by Home
Base," Dearborn said. "This year's
speaker, a combat veteran of Iraq and
Afghanistan, went into great detail of
his struggles and explained how Home
Base saved his life. If you go once to
this event, you will see how worthy of
a cause it is."
Since it was founded in 2009,
Home Base has served more than
11,000 veterans and family members and trained more than 45,000
clinicians, educators and community
members across the country.

Mark Dearborn, vice president of corporate accounts
for Arpin Group, raised more than $5,000 for Run to
Home Base this year.

E.E. Ward Hosts Swim-a-Thon for Charity
E.E. Ward Moving & Storage Co.,
based in Columbus, Ohio, hosted a
Laps for Learning charity swim-a-thon
in conjunction with YMCA of Central
Ohio. The event raised $17,400, which

will enable 232 local children to attend
water safety classes.
Funds were raised by participants
through pledges for the number
of laps they swam, as well as by

donations from sponsors. The annual
event honors the late Eldon Ward,
who had a passion for working in
the family business, swimming and
community service. n
