his issue of Industry Trends highlights
the Southeast region of the U.S. Aside
from having the nation's best college
football programs, this region is home
to many southern cities experiencing strong
economic growth.
We will also take a look at 20 major
metropolitan area housing markets, along with
household goods shipment totals. In addition, we
will review the historical averages for shipment
weight, along with the new and existing home
sales totals from the last several years through the
3rd quarter of 2017.

data is based on information submitted
confidentially to AMSA by its members.
Industry Trends also provides subscribers
with the most comprehensive look at this
$85.7 billion industry. The publication
is available on a subscription basis

As usual for this issue, here is our annual look at employment and wages in a
variety of occupations in the moving and storage industry. The numbers here are
for all workers in these categories, not just those who work for movers. This report
looks at the last full year of data, which in this case is 2016. Wages are up in all
categories, and the number employed is up in all but two categories:
