Hilton (NYSE:HLT) including existing
buildings and land for development within
the Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa, located
in the Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. The
purchase marks Hilton Grand Vacations'
second announced project in Japan and will
be the first resort to open in the country.
Adding to the existing properties, HGV
plans to create timeshare units with ocean
views on the purchased land.
Hilton Odawara Resort & Spa is located
just 30 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo.
The hotel was the recipient of the 'Japan's
Leading Resort' award from World Travel
Awards in 2017. Hilton will continue to
own the hotel and resort amenities as well
as manage the property, which is close to
attractions such as the Fuji Hakone Izu
National Park and Odawara Castle. Guests
will have access to the many recreational
facilities and resort amenities of Hilton
Odawara Resort & Spa.
ResortCom Rebranding Begins

ResortCom has updated its branding
imagery. The changes are evident in its
new logo and revamped web site, which
Google already ranks #1 in three coveted
search terms. With ten relevant search
terms ranking in Google's Top 10, the site
tells the ResortCom story of unique culture,
the breadth and depth its capabilities, and
high-powered technology and tools.
ResortCom provides timeshare management software, financial services, and
contact center solutions to the hospitality
industry. Its full suite of client services
includes innovative contact center solutions,
reservations, member services, and financial
services, enabling clients to grow at a
quicker pace.
Built in-house with original photography
of employees and introducing new colors
and fonts, ResortCom created the website
to engage potential clients and potential
employees, as well as reinforce existing
client relationships. The web site also is
available in Spanish, for the company's

many Spanish speaking clients in the United
States and Latin America.
ResortCom's logo has retained its
familiar shape and design while reflecting
more contemporary tastes and energy
with new colors. Similar thinking went
into modernizing the font and dropping
the word "international" from day to day
usage (though it remains intact for legal
documents).
SPI Software - 35 Years of Innovation
Timeshare software developer, SPI Software,
is pleased to announce their 35th anniversary of serving the timeshare industry. In
1983, the fledgling timeshare industry was
born in a marketplace seeking to provide
affordable vacation ownership options to a
surging baby boomer population. As new
timeshare construction projects took root,
with them came an inherent need to provide system-based structure to help resort
owners actively promote, sell and manage
the vacation ownership units.
Enter Karl Lange, founder of System
Products International (SPI). Karl is a
University of Pennsylvania, Wharton
School graduate with extensive system-based applications development and
computer experience. For his start in
timeshare, Karl was inspired by Robert
"Bob" Burns, Chairman and CEO of
Vacation Internationale who provided
the impetus for SPI Software's entry into
timeshare. Karl then worked closely
with industry leaders to develop what
would become SPI's initial offering to the
timeshare marketplace. A bevy of software
developers worked round-the-clock at SPI
for approximately twelve months to create
a comprehensive program that resulted in
the initial SPI timeshare offering.
As the years progressed, technology,
business operating methodologies and
ideas changed continuously. And so,
did SPI Software. The industry today is
characterized by a global marketplace of
sophisticated properties that accommodate
web-based activities such as Owner Portals,
OTA/GDS Connectivity and Exchange
Service management. The traditional
fixed week model has been adapted to

marketplace needs that now accommodates
market demand change in the form of float
weeks and point-based program options.
Significantly, technology has evolved from
the initial text-based design to powerful
database driven platforms that are hosted
either locally or in the cloud. Mobile
devices and web-based applications further
characterize today's technology requirement
all of which have been designed into SPI's
software offerings.

PEOPLE
In Memoriam: Harvey Baron (1927-2018)
The timeshare industry mourns the loss of
friend and colleague, Harvey Baron, who
passed away peacefully on January 17, 2018,
with family members at his side. He was 90
years old.
Born in The Bronx, New York, Harvey
compiled a long list of accomplishments in
his 30-year Land and Timeshare development career, least of which included
long-time membership in the American
Resort Development Association (ARDA)
where he was often a featured speaker
at national and regional conventions.
Harvey's membership started back
when organization was known as The
American Land Development Association
(ALDA), through the growth transition
to The American Resort and Residential
Development Association (ARRDA) and
eventually ARDA.
Harvey began his career in the land
development business in 1960 with the Gulf
American Land Corporation (GALC), at
that time the largest land developer in the
world, as Regional Marketing Director, later
becoming the Executive Staff Leader in
charge of GALC (later GAC) International
Division. At GAC, Harvey was the early
innovator of tour generation programs,
developing the well-known "Fly and Buy"
Marketing Program that ran nationally in
the early to mid-1960's.
In 1970, Harvey joined ITT Levitt
Development (later to become ITT CDC)
as their sixth employee. It was there that
Harvey developed and deployed the
