We look forward to seeing you in Chicago for CCAR’s 125th Convention, where we
will learn, discuss, and grow together. The program of the 125th Annual Convention
of the CCAR will bring together two grand ideas in the great city of Chicago. Chicago
is the birthplace of the “Great Books of the Western World” project, which sought to
promote the learning of great ideas as part of being an educated person. Chicago is
also known as “the city that works.”
Using the wisdom of the ages to build a better world, the CCAR Convention will
focus on engaging our intellects by grappling with the big ideas and challenging
questions of life. Each day at the 2014 Convention will focus on one of three major
themes: making and finding meaning; autonomy and obligation; good and evil. Our
outstanding presenters and teachers will spark your creativity, lead you to insights,
and stir fresh ideas. Connect and share your thinking with our colleagues. Engage
with some of today’s finest scholars, teachers, and community leaders.
The Convention will also pay attention to improving our skills for our day-to-day work
as rabbis. Through the study of texts, the presentations of informed and passionate
speakers, communal worship, and opportunities for personal connection and
exchange with colleagues we will deepen our rabbinic work as we strengthen the
Jewish community.
The CCAR Convention Committee creates opportunities to learn about and discuss the
issues, concerns, and interests about which you feel most passionate. We hope to see
you there.

KE TE R TORAH : Submit your hours before Rosh HaShanah 5774!

P

articipate in Keter Torah, a voluntary program to encourage and recognize ongoing rabbinic
learning and skills development by members of the CCAR, granting awards and other
incentives to rabbis who engage in serious and sustained learning over the course of a
Jewish year. This program was developed by the CCAR Professional Development Committee
and approved by the CCAR Board. The areas of learning include Torah, text study, rabbinics,
professional development, counseling, and education skills.
Tracking of hours is by the honor system. When you have reached your incentive level, please
notify us by using the Keter Torah Continuing Education Form at the CCAR website before Rosh
HaShanah 5774.
For additional information and for the Keter Torah Continuing Education Form, please see the
CCAR website.
