Bottled Water Opportunities Abound

trade show often comment on how very busy the experience can be. The actionpacked schedule for InterBev 2010 (which includes the IBWA Convention & Trade Show) is no different. Between the full schedule of InterBev convention offerings and IBWA-specific meetings and events, attendees will be busier than ever—from sunup until sundown—and later. Our annual show is a big event and is action-packed for good reason: IBWA wants to maximize the opportunities available to each attendee during InterBev’s “Filled With Opportunities” convention. A quick scan of the Schedule-at-aGlance (www.interbev.com/schedule/exhibits--conference-sessions/) reveals that we have been successful at arranging must-attend events; but how do nonveteran conference-goers efficiently plan their time at InterBev? With a survival guide, of course! In this issue of IBWA’s Bottled Water Reporter, we’re giving our members a leg up on planning the sessions and activities they want to attend while at InterBev in Orlando, Florida, September 20-24, 2010. This issue’s only feature, “Surviving InterBev,” details the steps necessary to plan properly and make the most from the week-long event. When reading this article, pay close attention to the networking opportunities, as time and time again, attendees say face-to-face communication with peers was one of the most important parts of the week for them. While there are plenty of informal opportunities for peer interaction, the schedule also affords several organized networking events, including the Drinking Water Research Foundation (DWRF) golf tournament, a bottled water plant tour, and an IBWA hospitality reception honoring IBWA Chairman Stew Allen (DS Waters). I encourage you to spend some time reading the convention materials in detail so that you don’t miss out on any of the industry-related opportunities we’ve taken great care in setting up for you! Within the pages of this Bottled Water Reporter, you’ll also find other interesting articles, such as this issue’s Technical Update column: “SOQs, MCLs, MCLGs, PHGs, and Guidelines for Drinking Water: How Misunderstandings and Misuse Result in Consumer Confusion.” IBWA’s Vice President for Education, Science, and Technical Relations Bob Hirst explains those acronyms and why they are commonly confused by consumers and legislators alike. (It might be a good idea to keep this column handy for when you need to educate your local media or public officials.) Filled With Opportunities.
