Economic Study First of
New Member Benefits
ILMA members generate $7.2 billion in GDP

never doubted the value of our industry in the overall economic picture.
But I am pleased that I now have confirmation of my viewpoint. A study
commissioned by ILMA along with the ILMA Foundation has quantified
the economic impact of the lubricants industry, and the results are impressive.
Economic consulting firm IHS Markit found that ILMA members
stimulated $14.4 billion in sales activity and $7.2 billion in GDP. ILMA
members support over 26,300 jobs that pay $2.6 billion in labor income.
The average employee compensation supported by ILMA companies was
over $100,000 per worker, approximately 26% higher than the average
worker in America. These are just some of the high points found by
researchers, but the numbers speak to the strength of our industry and are
something to be proud of. The complete economic analysis is available at
www.ilma.org, and I encourage you to review it when you have a chance.
This project is one of the first of a series of member benefit initiatives
that ILMA is undertaking in the coming months. The ILMA leadership has
established a program fund to support these initiatives.
We are excited about another program under development: a basic lubricants
training program for nontechnical employees who are new to the industry.
The class will be offered online, with short learning modules that employees
can complete at their leisure. Upon completion of the program, participants
will receive a certificate of competency. The idea behind this program is to
help employees feel more vested in the industry. Keep your eye open for emails
coming from ILMA detailing the availability of this new program.
Finally, ILMA hits the road! ILMA will be hosting a series of regional
town halls that members will be invited to participate in. Tentative locations
include Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia/Northern New Jersey and Cincinnati. Join ILMA for lunch and hear updates on important industry news
as well as Association activities. As we go to press, we are firming up dates
and times, so check the ILMA website and be on the lookout for ILMA
News for more information. I hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to meet with me and other ILMA leaders right in your own backyards.
