ILMA Addresses Healthcare

hat's one of the biggest challenges faced by ILMA manufacturing
members? Over the past five years, ILMA has asked that question through its annual advocacy survey. Without exception, our
manufacturing members named health care as their top concern.
That's no surprise. Last year, employer-provided health care surpassed
$20,000 per family, an increase of 5% over 2018, according to the Kaiser
Family Foundation. On average, employers bore 71% of that cost. While
there were hopes that Congress would somehow control the costs, that has
not occurred and is unlikely to be successfully addressed in the future.
One silver lining that emerged is President Donald Trump's executive
order allowing associations to develop health care plans. With all that's
transpired in 2020, you may have missed hearing about ILMA's new
offering. ILMA has partnered with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and now offers competitive health care programs in
almost every state. Have you checked it out?
Our goal through the association health care program (AHP) is to band
business together to offer plans typically available only to large companies
(500-plus employees). In addition to better and more comprehensive health
care, the AHP aims to offer savings between 10% and 15%. You don't have
to wait for your renewal period to consider this new program. You can sign
up at any time. Information is available at ilma.org.
It's just one more way that ILMA listens
to members and develops solutions.
Speaking of member services, I hope you've
participated in LubeTrends, ILMA's virtual
Town Halls. More than 400 participants
attended last month's session. Register now for the Sept. 16 LubeTrends,
MWF and Industrial: Finding the Value Pools Post-COVID, on the ILMA
