Annual Meeting

LMA's Annual Meeting went virtual this year, and
although the platform was different, the results were
much of the same. ILMA members came together to discuss trends, regulatory changes and the state of the industry,
while also getting to connect with each other at planned
networking events. Attendees came together as part of
#EssentialILMA and embraced the new meeting experience
for two days of virtual learning and fun.
Day One
The first day of the conference kicked off with the opening
session, which was followed by productive and informative
meetings with thought leaders from inside and outside the
lubricants industry. Here are the highlights.

The past year has disrupted nearly every industry, and ILMA
and its members were no exception, said Holly Alfano, CEO
of ILMA. Alfano addressed attendees during the opening
session of ILMA's Annual Meeting.
In the early days of the pandemic, ILMA worked hard
to qualify lubricant manufacturers as essential businesses
and provided resources on ILMA's website. " During that

time, we were trying to be essential to you, and I hope we
succeeded, " Alfano said.
COVID-19 disrupted ILMA's Annual Meeting, which
transitioned to a virtual experience, and delayed ILMA's
2021 spring meeting, ILMA Engage, which has been pushed
to June 23-25.
Chuck Decker, president of ILMA's Board of Directors,
said the ILMA Foundation is behind on its budget due to
two ILMA meeting cancellations. Usually, $50 of every
meeting registration fee would go toward the foundation's
programs, including industry research and its scholarship
program. " If you could, please contribute at ilma.org so we
can keep these great programs moving forward, " he said.
Because of COVID-19, ILMA's Executive Committee members will retain their positions for another year, Alfano said.
Businesses Play Critical Role in Improving Lives
Capitalism has enabled humanity to soar, but confidence in
big business is declining, according to Raj Sisodia, FW Olin
distinguished professor of global business and Whole Foods
Market research scholar in conscious capitalism, Babson
College, and a speaker during ILMA's Annual Meeting.
" The purpose of business is to produce profitable solutions
to the problems of people and the planet, " Sisodia said,
