LEGAL EASE

For example, how much the next president can do depends on
which party controls the Senate and the House, along with the
size of the majority. A filibuster-proof 60-vote supermajority in
the Senate can make or frustrate a president's time in office.
Even if you need to "hold your nose" when voting on the top
of the ticket, there are other important state and local offices
being decided next month. Many of these candidates end
up deciding issues that affect you every day, including public
school control, property taxes and local discrimination laws.
In addition, referenda on the ballots in a number of states can
make a difference. Over the past four years, voters in four states
have approved the legalization of marijuana with legislative
action at either the state or federal levels.

I thoroughly enjoy watching on YouTube the late George
Carlin's monologue, "Voting is Meaningless." However, voting is
a chance to express yourself and back the candidates and issues
you care about. If nothing else, voting lets you express your
displeasure with elected officials.
So, get out and vote next month!
