Welcome to the New Compoundings
Happy New Year to all!

s 2017 unfolds, we are proud to present to you a new Compoundings. I hope you like
the refreshed and updated magazine. It's been a few years since ILMA has updated the
design, and I hope you'll find the new look to be more contemporary and easier to read.
In addition to the new graphics format, an editorial refresh is also under way. While we
are continuing to focus on news related to the association and its membership, we are beefing up coverage of industry news and information. For example, in this issue, we've added
a new section titled "Industry Rundown," which offers a compendium of information on
business trends in the lubricants industry. A new section titled "Hot Products" will premier
in March and will highlight new technology and other products of interest to the industry.
Each month, the magazine will feature an in-depth cover story. Kicking off the cover
feature in this issue is ILMA's new president, Beth Ann Jones. Beth shares her experiences
growing up in the lubricants industry working alongside her family at Hangsterfer's Laboratories, started by her grandfather in Mantua, New Jersey, back in 1937.
Another new feature is our "Portrait" section on the last page of the magazine. "Portrait"
will showcase ILMA personalities, highlighting some little-known facts about the interests
of our members outside of their work in the lubricants industry. This month's portrait
focuses on none other than John Howell, longtime member and ILMA consultant, who
shares his lifelong fascination with trains, among other interesting bits.
What hasn't changed about Compoundings is our commitment to provide important
regulatory and legislative information to our members. This month's issue features an
update on REACH compliance, as well as an analysis of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
- critical information for members doing business overseas. In addition to the magazine
coverage, the ILMA website offers a deeper dive into these issues and is updated daily. I
hope you will continue to utilize the resources of www.ilma.org, which offers critical regulatory compliance information as well as advocacy updates.
So that we can continue providing relevant information to our members, one goal for
the new year is the establishment of ILMA's Editorial and Programs Advisory Board. We
are looking for a cross section of members to keep us up to speed on issues and trends that
ILMA should be focusing on in the magazine, website and educational programming at our
meetings. If you are interested in being a part of this group, please let me know. Your input
is extremely important, and even if you can't commit to participating in this group, we
hope you will share your thoughts and ideas with us about the content in Compoundings.

thoughts about stories you would like to see covered.
The updated magazine, our new website and our new social media presence are tied to
ILMA's ongoing initiative under our strategic plan to provide members with relevant and
more contemporary communications. I hope you will find it effective, and I look forward
to hearing your thoughts.
