LETTER FROM THE CEO

On the Road to a Better ILMA
Implementing the Strategic Plan
"ILMA is the leading trade organization in the global lubricants industry, providing value for our members
through networking opportunities, advocacy, ethics, education and information."
That was the vision adopted when ILMA gathered its board and key stakeholders to devise a new strategic plan for the
Association. The board formally adopted the plan at the Annual Meeting in October 2016, and since that time, we've been
working on its implementation.
Here is a look at the strategic plan's five goals and a sampling of the projects underway to help achieve them:

Goal: Continue to provide an effective networking environment.
Status: Most members recall last year's Annual Meeting, where we offered a larger and expanded Base Camp, plus a new "after
dinner" networking event following the President's Dinner. Watch for more enhancements at the upcoming Annual Meeting
in Orlando, Florida, in October.

Goal: Protect and advance our members' interests in the legislative and regulatory arenas.
Status: In the coming months, we will roll out a new grassroots capability on our website that will allow members to easily
connect with members of Congress on important issues. We continue to update our members on important legislative and
regulatory issues. At the beginning of the year, we released our Advocacy Agenda for 2017. It's available on ILMA's website
under the "Issues" tab. And of course, as regulatory issues emerge, ILMA continues to release white papers and videos, which
guide members on compliance.

Goal: Expand and refine ILMA's quality testing and ethics program.
Status: The Ethics Committee is expanding testing for 2017. Other ideas being discussed are the development of tools and resources for members seeking to resolve quality issues, and more focus on ethics on the website and in other communications.

Goal: Deliver relevant educational programs and communications initiatives that meet members' needs.
Status: This particular goal has kept ILMA very busy. Throughout 2017, we've launched a complete editorial and graphics
refresh of Compoundings magazine, and hopefully you've noticed the difference! We've also transformed the way members stay
in touch with ILMA with the launch of our new app, ILMA 365. It includes access to the membership directory, meeting
information, ILMA's newsletters and magazine - everything ILMA in the palm of your hand. I hope you've downloaded the
app and are taking full advantage of it.
Finally, we continue to deliver relevant, educational sessions at our meetings, and we hope to bring it to a whole new level
with the creation of a Programs Advisory Committee. The committee will include representatives from almost every segment
of membership, and it will advise ILMA on trends and developments in the industry so that we can keep the membership
informed through our news and magazine, through white papers and videos, and through educational sessions. Interested in

Goal: Continually improve ILMA's value proposition to attract and retain members.
Status: Increasing member engagement is an ongoing project, and we continue to work on improving the meetings, making
committee participation more rewarding and leveraging new technologies (such as the website and app) to improve communication with the members.
The key ingredient to the success of all these goals is you, the member. How can we do better? I hope you will not hesitate
to share your thoughts with me as we use our strategic plan as a road map to making ILMA the leading trade organization
