WASHINGTON AND INDUSTRY BRIEFS

NAFCU Director of Regulatory Affairs Ann Kossachev (left) with
FHFA Director Mark Calabria.

FHFA

Ensure credit unions understand how the new proposed
capital requirements rule could affect their ability to sell
loans to the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs);
■■ understand what the use of new credit score models may
mean for credit unions' flexibility to issue loans to their
members; and
■■ understand how the FHFA's efforts to improve language
access for limited-English-proficiency borrowers impact
loan origination and servicing processes.
■■

The NAFCU team with former Small Business Administration
Administrator Linda McMahon (center left). McMahon resigned
from the SBA in April.

SBA

Increase credit unions' participation in SBA lending programs, including 7(a) loans, as well as the agency's initiatives
to expand access to capital;
■■ work with the agency to obtain clear guidance for credit
unions and other small businesses on the Americans
with Disabilities Act (ADA) website accessibility requirements; and
■■ offer support with the agency for efforts to modernize the
Telephone Consumer Protection Act so credit unions and
small businesses can better provide their members with
important information.
■■

NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger (left) meeting with
Treasury Department Counselor Craig Phillips.

Treasury Department

Provide more recommendations for regulatory relief;
cooperate with Congress and other agencies during housing finance reform efforts to ensure credit unions' concerns are addressed;
■■ continue to oppose wrapping credit unions into the Community Reinvestment Act; and
■■ collaborate on cybersecurity standards and educate credit
unions on identifying and combating risks.
