Wong, PHA's new president and CEO, assumed his duties on June 19, 2016. Brad, who is relocating to the Washington, D.C., area from San Rafael, Calif., is only the second CEO in PHA's history. "I greatly admire PHA's unique strength as the heart of the PH community," Brad says. "With deep appreciation for PHA's considerable achievements over the past 25 years, I'm honored to have the opportunity to join the cause and lead efforts that further the mission to extend and improve the lives of those affected by PH." Brad comes to PHA from the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (FAAO), where he served as executive director. His accomplishments included creating innovative programs, raising the foundation's visibility, establishing strategic partnerships, and increasing and diversifying funding. Brad also brings broad knowledge of academic medicine and biomedical research environments, having served as assistant vice president of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Foundation. "Brad Wong joins PHA as we celebrate our accomplishments and an important milestone in our history, acknowledging our need for focused, dedicated, experienced, and visionary leadership in the continued fight to prevent and cure PH," says Steve White, immediate past chair of PHA's Board of Trustees. The search for PHA's new CEO included a thoughtful, yearlong process that started with information gathering from the PH community, including patients, caregivers, medical professionals, Board members and industry leaders. Roger Towle, who just assumed the role of chair of PHA's Board of Trustees and also chaired the search committee, says, "We are confident that Brad embodies the special qualities needed to lead the PH community in achieving our vision of a world without PH, empowered by hope." Brad succeeds Rino Aldrighetti, PHA's first president and CEO, who retired in June after 17 years of service that began when he became the organization's first employee.
