Examples of this include everything from reimbursing employees for professional certifications
to allowing flexible schedules to attend academic
programs or seminars. 
The second is an acknowledgment and
acceptance from employers that we have complex lives outside of work. The events of 2020
have exacerbated challenges faced by many
employees, including racist violence, political
instability, unequal distribution of labor at
home, and limits on access to health care-not
to mention the individual struggles that someone might be facing. These nonwork-related
events can have real psychological, emotional,
and physical impacts on employees that can
understandably affect the way they show up

at work. When a company can take feedback
from employees-and successfully leverage
that feedback to help address these issues-it
demonstrates that employees are valued.
