Mobility: What is the role of the Immigration
Forum in carrying out the public policy
principles of reform adopted by
Worldwide ERC®?

policies in terms of how they impact business,
translating not only the legal ramifications, but
their practical implications as well. One of the
great aspects of belonging to Worldwide ERC® is
the ability of members to learn from each other,
so another valuable role of the forum is helping
members understand good practice developed by
the majority of members. This allows us to share a
common approach to specific challenges regarding
immigration. Of course, with so many changes
transforming our industry as a result of COVID,
technology, and other factors, helping everybody
understand what the future potentially looks like
is a significant focus. Understanding public policy
changes-and putting forward public policy solutions that will help the workforce mobility industry
now and into the future-all really strike at the
core purpose of our principles for reform and will
be required to support an increasingly agile and
mobile workforce. Ultimately, this will help our
members remain competitive and compliant, while
assisting them to become better advocates for the
industry as a whole.
Mobility: How is the work of the Immigration
Forum assisting Worldwide ERC® members
impacted by the pandemic?
McCluskey: Th roughout the pandemic, the

priority has been making sure we are advocating for public policy solutions that support
the mobility industry and give clear guidance
on new public policy as well as the direction
of global public policy. Ensuring that we are
guiding members through complex and sometimes multifaceted issues of global immigration
policies and/or providing timely public policy
issue feedback and solutions is key. Helping

members navigate compliance requirements,
exemptions, and the impact of closed borders in
turn helped to equip them with the tools they
needed to guide their own employees. At the
onset of the pandemic, when borders started to
close, one of the fi rst things we did was provide
detailed information on each closure and how it
impacted our members individually. On worldwideerc.org, we published a Worldwide Mobility
Safety Framework to assist members with highlevel guidelines and public policies around the
world as businesses begin to reopen and are on
the road to recovery. We also provided a link to
a COVID map developed by Deloitte. The map
was free to access and allowed people to see
where the borders were closing, how the closures might impact members' travel, and what
changes had been made to immigration rules
associated with COVID. Th at map remains
active at the moment, and it's helping to guide
people around potential changes-past, present, and future. In addition, we continued to
provide COVID-related guidance throughout
the pandemic via regular public policy forum
webcasts and publications, as well as advising
on Brexit. Worldwide ERC® also issued around
two dozen immigration public policy letters
and comments on issues that impact mobility,
in addition to a range of other issues surrounding global mobility.

Forum's specific area of responsibility,
