Changing Course, Steady Focus

E

ach summer, the Mobility editorial calendar themes are determined
for the following year. So, it would have been about this time last year
when the map was drawn. This month's content was to center around
how mobility contributes to companies being employers of choice in a
competitive landscape.
At the time, it was a very relevant topic, and I strongly believe it will
be once again. But given where we are right now, we're all required to
make significant and rapid shifts in our course. Seemingly overnight, many companies have
gone from competing for top talent to assessing critical staffing needs and making difficult
decisions around furloughs or reductions in force.
So we've changed tack on our content theme, delivering a special digital-only edition
that focuses on your more immediate needs: managing fully distributed teams; maintaining
employee health and wellness, both mental and physical; ensuring business continuity; planning for reopenings; and navigating the post-pandemic recovery process.
Throughout all of this change, however, the things that employees value most in an
employer remain the same. Open and transparent communication, trust in leadership, a genuine feeling of camaraderie with co-workers, the ability to freely offer ideas, and a commitment
to personal well-being and future career success have long been the common hallmarks of
companies consistently ranked among the best places to work. In fact, I believe that all of those
things are even more relevant and important now, while we're in these uncharted waters.
So, while we're quickly adapting and changing course to meet what our current environment
calls for, we're also remaining consistent to who we are, modeling our member services after
what outstanding companies deliver to their employees. We continue to communicate with
you frequently, sharing information and resources to help you navigate the current challenges
and stay ready for what's next. We ask that you continue to place your trust in us to advocate
for your best business interests as legislative, regulatory, and financial relief decisions are
negotiated. We offer you many opportunities to boost your individual and organizationwide
professional development, skills, and learning. And we seek new ways to keep bringing you

This crisis is forcing all of us to redefine the world of work. But if we keep our focus steadily
on the core values that make for great organizations and keep them at the heart of all of our
operations and decision-making, I'm confident we'll see our way safely through it.
