no. 27 Out There Innovative Materials, Products, and Technology Digital Canvas MicroTiles™ by Christie® is a new LED and DLP-based digital display system that can be used to create almost-seamless, high-resolution large-format displays. The tiles—16-in. wide, 12-in. high, and 10 in. deep—can be stacked and clustered in inﬁnite ways to create custom displays, with only a 1mm gap between tiles. The modular display system is designed for long-life use in commercial applications and offers superior color and image reproduction, says the company. Its LED light engine is rated at 65,000 hours to half brightness usage, or nearly 7.5 years of continuous operation. Sensors within each of the tiles eliminate the need for color calibration among multiple tiles. The tiles can be serviced from the front.
