Physician profiling is viewed as a mechanism for stimulating high-quality healthcare by recognizing the contributions of individual physicians. Developing profiling methods that reliably differentiate performance among physicians, however, is challenging due to small sample sizes, incomplete data, and physician panel differences. Lori R. Pelletier, PhD, et al. develop and demonstrate a reliable profiling model for comparing physicians across domains of care.
